Car Valeting - Detailing
What is detailing?

Detailing is a more extensive service to that of valeting. It is an extremely thorough cleansing, polishing and waxing of your car.

Particular attention is given to the paintwork to produce a show-quality finish, probably even better than when the car first left the factory. Detailing creates stunning results, and is also performed to prepare your car for sale, to achieve the highest possible price, as well as making your car stand out from the rest, making your car more desirable than others, therefore much easier to sell.

Interior detailing involves the cleaning of the interior of your car by using vacuums, liquid cleaners, and brushes. Engine detailing involves cleaning the engine bay area of dirt and grease by using degreasers and all-purpose cleaners.

A full vehicle detail is a 9 step process that typicaly takes 4 - 6 hours. For more information Please see below

Washing
At autowash we don’t just use water straight out of the tap. Our water is pure, very pure. It is then gently heated to around 60 degrees, the perfect temperature to enhance the cleaning power of our pure water, and to be kind to your cars paint.

For many years, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls Royce and Bentley together with other fine car manufacturers have recommended using only pure water to wash your car. Having pre- soaked the car with a citrus degreaser, the car is then pre-rinsed to remove surface grit and dirt. The car is then treated to a deep penetrating foam soak to loosen and remove further dirt. We then hand wash. No cheap bucket and sponge. Only high quality buckets with grit guards are used together with pure lambs wool mitts. This avoids the possibility of adding swirl marks.

Alloy wheels are extensively cleaned as are door shuts, boot and bonnet and gutters. The car is rinsed and towel dried.

Surface de-contamination using clay bar
How do you know if you need to use a clay?

After thoroughly hand washing and drying your car, run your fingers over the surface, preferably from inside a cellophane bag, which will enhance your sense of touch. You will feel bumps and rough spots. These are contaminants attacking the finish of your car.

Removing these surface contaminants, eg. ferrous dust, which in time oxidises, bird droppings, road tar, acid rain spots, bug residue, paint over-spray, brake pad dust, hard water spots, etc, will enhance the cars appearance. The finished results are amazing. These contaminants can be easily seen on the clay. Once removed, both the look and the long term health of your car's paintwork, will be greatly improved, ready for the next stage.

oxidation and swirl removal
Most people believe that polishing and waxing are one of the same. Wrong. In fact, traditionally they are two different processes. Autowash knows the secret to a stunning award-winning finish is to properly cleanse and polish the paintwork prior to waxing. All paints age from exposure to ultraviolet light, pollution and acid rain. The beautiful finish of your car gradually becomes tired and dull.

Waxing over these surfaces will only create a temporary gloss. To reveal the paint's true vibrancy, and depth of shine, it must be polished. This will also remove old waxes and polishes, oxidation, swirl marks and minor scratching. This is usually done by hand. Heavily flawed paintwork will require machine compounding to eradicate imperfections and level the paint. Ultrasonic depth gauges are used to measure the paint. This reveals whether the car has been re-sprayed and also assists us in knowing the paint depth, prior to polishing.

paint cleansing and nourishment
Once the paintwork is polished it is then cleansed. This prepares the paint for waxing, and ensures the wax bonds to paintwork correctly, and sets like concrete.

waxing
High quality Canauba wax is applied by hand to the entire car. Autowash offers a choice of waxes such as P21s, Meguiars and Swissvax. Swissvax being renowned as the best products and waxes in the world. These Canauba waxes leave a deep wet look shine, which cannot be replicated by modern polymer based products.

Autowash employ Swissvax fully trained and authorised detailers

Detailing the engine not only looks great, but increases the resale value of your car.

It's a well known fact that people who take the time and effort to have the engine bay detailed, will also be the kind of person to take better care of their cars. Engine detailing is the cleaning of the exterior of the engine and the engine compartment, finishing of with the applying dressing to protect and enhance beauty of your engine. Detailing the engine bay should be done at least ever 5000 miles or quarterly.

If you are selling your car, detailing is a superb way to ensure the car maintains the potential value you are asking, therefore making it much more desirable to buy than others on the market, thus easier to sell.
